Campbeltown Distilleries
Once proclaimed ‘the whisky capital of the world’ with 34 distilleries, today only three active distilleries remain in the town: Glen Scotia, Glengyle and Springbank, enjoy a guided tour at all three distilleries and find out the secrets of whisky making in Kintyre.
Glen Scotia Distillery
The Glen Scotia distillery is one of the smallest Scotch whisky distilleries but one of the big names in Campbeltown, the former whisky capital of the world. its original design dating from the 1830s — including the mash tun, stillroom and dunnage warehouse. By 1835, it was one of almost 30 thriving distilleries in Campbeltown. I took a tour here with Ingvar and IAIN MCALISTER, MASTER DISTILLER who took us round and supplied cask drams! Right from the cask, excellent.

Springbank
A great tour had here, excellent staff, very interesting tour and boy what a tasting session afterwards. As we left the distillery happy we arrived into the tasting room and had an even better time with some good shopping time well spent. There is a great bar tasting room on site, the tour does involve a lot of stairs and walking, we have so many Bankie lovers on tour with us here.
