Islands, Golf & whisky

Our golfing tours give you the best of both worlds. Below is a sample of what our tours can include, as these Canadians did – it’s not surprising that golf and whisky go so well together.

Day 1: Arrive into Glasgow where our driver (pardon the golf pun) and mini coach meets you with a welcome dram then drive to Loch Lomond for a photo opportunity and on to Loch Lomond Distillery which is closed to the public, but WE have friends!  You have lunch in Inveraray and visit the wee whisky shops.  End the day in Tarbert near Kennacraig.

Day 2: Take the morning ferry to Islay and play your first round of golf, on the Machrie course, Islay.  This evening relax in the hotel bar sampling some local whiskies, should the weather be on your side, we will host a whisky tasting on Bowmore harbour, watch the sun go down with a dram!  Overnight Islay.

Day 3: A special peat lover’s day today as we explore Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Lagavulin Distilleries “the peaty paradise”.   Drive back to Bowmore, stopping for an outdoor whisky tasting at the peat bogs.

Day 4: A morning sail to Jura where we discover the delights of (many) Jura whiskies at Jura Distillery.  Return to Islay and visit Caol Ila Distillery.  Another evening whisky tasting, this time with a historic twist at Finlagen Castle.  Overnight Islay.

Day 5: We leave Islay on the morning ferry then a second ferry to the island of Arran where we have quick whisky tour at Arran Distillery, then the final ferry to the west coast just north of Troon.  Check in to local hotel in Ayr.

Day 6: A round of golf at the world famous Turnberry course and will offer a whisky tasting on the 9th. Overnight Ayr.  We can arrange golf on other courses too instead, or in addition.

Day 7: A final round of golf on another world famous course; Troon OR a local course if you prefer, then a whisky tour around Auchentoshan Distillery.  Your driver leaves after you check in to your hotel.  This evening we suggest you visit the world famous Pot Still whisky bar in downtown Glasgow – whisky heaven to end your tour.

Day 8: Head home, Slainte Mhath! Haste ye back!

Hi Liz,

“We are on our way to a full recovery! We had a great time on the whisky tour and felt it was well organized and structured. Mark (driver) was great, the food and activities were fantastic. I can’t say there was anything we would have changed to make our whisky experience more enjoyable.”
Thanks again! – Paul Folk Canada.
