DISTILLED FESTIVAL LONG WEEKEND – awaiting future dates.
Thursday September, the tour starts at 9am in Glasgow, as we head north, drop into Blair Atholl Distillery where you purchase as many drams as you wish at their superb mash tun tasting bar, followed by lunch (own expense) at The House of Bruar – the Harrods of the north, excellent food served quickly! OR LUNCH IN A LOCAL PUB, TELL US! From here north to Elgin – three or four star hotel, ask us.
Friday September – today we have the festival event – but we start with a wee bit of blending this morning, as we head to Strathisla Distillery for the Chivas Blending Experience Tour – duration: 2 hours 15 minutes – You will begin by touring Strathisla Distillery to discover how the single malt at the heart of Chivas Regal is made. You then taste some special drams and the opportunity to create your own blend in the style of Chivas Regal and take away a small bottle of it to impress your friends. From here time for lunch at Glenfiddich Distillery (own expense, no tour). With a break from dedicated whisky, we travel north of Elgin to Duffus Castle (ruin), where we take a dram and discover some Scottish history at the castle. Returning to the hotel for a wee relaxation before the evening event. We then have tickets for evening session at the whisky festival at Elgin Town Hall. Overnight at the hotel.
Saturday September, along to Glenlivet Distillery to tour and visit The Guardians’ Library. You will be pointed in the direction of a secret door, which only opens to Guardians (you will all need to register free with Glenlivet). Inside, dram in hand immerse yourself in the world of the one that started it all. “The Guardians’ Library is a great place for reflection, relaxation and enjoyment of a dram. ). We will call in at Dalwhinie Distillery to allow time for a tasting of your own choice (and payment), time for lunch in Pitlochry – we know a few good pubs. Overnight in Perth, why not meet us in Paul’s local pub?
Sunday September, one final distillery, Tullibardine tour and tasting 5 superb drams. Our day comes to an end heading down back to Glasgow – at a hotel of your own booking, happy to help recommend or book for you.
