Scotland whisky tour – 4 days
Day 1 We meet in Glasgow or Edinburgh and drive north into Perthshire, stopping first at Blair Atholl Distillery, where they have a superb bar made from an old mash tun. Purchase as many drams as you like, then along a few miles north for a lunch stop, local pub – you tell us. This afternoon we head into Speyside and a tour/taste at Glenfarclas Distillery, family owned by the Grant family. We stay in Elgin tonight at a hotel that used to be whisky baron’s private house.
Day 2. Another distillery this morning without a visitor centre, Knockdhu near Huntly. Time for lunch in Keith then Strathisla Distillery for a blending tour, aye, you leave with a wee bottle of your own blend. With some scenic touring en route back to Elgin and your hotel.
Day 3 A final day in Speyside, this morning we take a tasting experience at Cardhu Distillery, sampling the Johnnie Walker range. The brand new visitor centre opens late 2020. Then down to the Victorian town of Pitlochry for lunch before heading to tour and taste at Aberfeldy Distillery – this is a unique tour with a lovely whisky museum, tasting from the cask. Stay overnight in Pitlochry, live music in the local pub.
Day 4 A tasting of the range at Tullibardine Distillery, superb drams at affordable prices. Drive down to Doune, Deanston Distillery for a special tasting experience, drams in the warehouse from the cask, this is new and superb! The day ends in Glasgow, where you stay in a city centre hotel – complete with free drinks! Honest!
