SPUD THE PIPER WITH A WHISKY IN HAND

Thursday 31 August We meet you in Inverness Airport at noon*. Your first Scottish dram in hand, we drive to Speyside for a two course lunch (a drink included) at The Delnashaugh Hotel. It’s then a short distance to Glenfarclas Distillery where you tour and taste the lovely nectar.  Relax with a dram or two, then on to The Garth Hotel, Grantown on Spey. This evening we host a 3 course dinner with three whiskies and Spud the Piper, in full highland dress, pipes for you. In 2000 Madonna and Guy Ritchie got married in Scotland, Spud piped ‘Like a Virgin’ as she came down the steps of her jet, next day he was on the front page of every paper known to man! We then introduce Robert Ransom founder of Angels’ Nectar  “Blended by angels, to be shared with friends”, Angels’ Nectar Blended Malt Scotch Whiskies are vibrant and fresh. Relax over a chat and drams with Robert.  What a start to your tour!

PAGODAS AT GLENFIDDICH DISTILLERY

Friday 1 September. After a sumptous highland breakfast we travel the short distance to the Speyside Cooperage; the only one in Britain with a visitor centre.  Experienced coopers show how they use traditional methods and tools, it’s totally fascinating.  Then five minutes to Glenfiddich Distillery, where we have included lunch. Finally, to  Glen Moray Distillery, Elgin, a private tour and taste, a French owned distillery, one of our favourites.  A superb tour followed by drams direct from the cask. The shop has (in our opinion) the best value for money whisky. Chek in to Elgin Hotel.   This evening, we introduce a whisky expert from Loch Lomond Distillery, having worked in the industry for many years, he shares stories and insights into the distilleries, brands, drams and people who make this such a fascinating topic. Overnight Elgin.

VIC CAMERON NOSING A DRAM

Saturday 2 September After a relaxed Scottish breakfast it’s our private whisky school, a very informative, humorous take on the whisky industry with Vic Cameron. Vic (BSc DipDist)  over 23 years experience in distilling, had many roles for Diageo in production management at both malting and distilling sites and is proud to have been the 4th International Malt Whisky Nosing Champion. He is on the organising committee for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival and also the Whisky Lecturer for the University of the Highlands and Islands.  Free time for lunch before  The Distilled Whisky Festival in Elgin Town Hall, 1pm – 5pm.  The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival team brings the best Speyside whisky distillers (at least 50) under one roof. But that’s not all – award-winning brewers, gin crafters, food producers and others, will be joining them.  Liz and Paul will be in their element, it was great last year!  Overnight Elgin.

Sunday 3 September After a deserved lie in, enjoy another cooked Scottish breakfast before the transfer back to Inverness Airport for 12 noon.  The end to your whisky experience.  Haste ye back!
