Lunch locally before heading to Walsh Whiskey Distillery located in a majestic 18th century estate, on the banks of the River Barrow, bounded by barley fields and framed by mighty 200 year-old oak trees a half hour from Kilkenny City, which dates back to 1085. After the tour and taste we head into Kilkenny City where you stay tonight, with so many grand whiskey pubs, you will be spoilt for choice.
Day 3 We head north to tour and taste at two of the more famous distilleries; Tullamore and Kilbeggan. Two vastly different distilleries both producing the wonderful Irish nectar. We return to Kilkenny for another night of fun and drams.
Day 4 Two hours north to visit the Slane Distillery, housed within the 250 year old buildings. Malt, grain and pot still, you will learn about them all here and have a taste to boot! From here to lunch at Dundalk before visiting the Great Northern Distillery. The distillery operates two pot stills and columns that produce a range of Irish whiskey spirits including grain, triple malt, double malt, peated malt and pot still whiskey. The distillery has a current capacity of 16 million litres of spirit with an opportunity to expand production. It’s then over to your hotel in Dundalk for the night.
